The founders of the company, Josef Leitner and Wolfgang Kraus, have been clarinet makers for more than 40 years. 1993 they founded their own company in order to build finest, handmade clarinets.

2001 they decided to build a new shop, as the old one had become too small, to the fact that they had become well-known.

Leitner & Kraus, with a staff of 13, have began to build finest instruments ranging from Es clarinets to bass clarinets.
